The arc Noddy Appeal was launched by the Arthritis Research Campaign (arc), a national medical research charity, in 2005 to raise money to fund a children’s arthritis research programme. One child in every 1,000 in the UK suffers from children’s arthritis (also known as Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, JIA). That’s almost as common as childhood diabetes!

The appeal is backed by the famous children’s character Noddy* and his friends in Toyland. Noddy is pictured here at the appeal’s launch with comedian Bobby Davro, paediatric rheumatologist Professor Patricia Woo and two children with arthritis from the children’s ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

All money raised by the arc Noddy Appeal will fund projects in, for example, paediatric rheumatology centres in Newcastle, Birmingham, Belfast, Glasgow, Sheffield and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Read more about why you should support our appeal.

* The rights to use Noddy for fundraising were handed over personally by his creator Enid Blyton
